PJSC United Mining and Chemical Company has made a pre-payment in the amount of US $213,000 for the block of new spiral separators of Australian company Minerals Technologies

The equipment will be manufactured over five months. The total cost of investment will exceed US $700,000. The Australian separators will operated at the refurbished factory of the open pit mine No. 9. The company expects that they will substantially improve economic performance indicators of titanium-containing ore processing in this area of production. Specifically, they will increase the extraction rate of the useful component to more than 90%. This means that the output of finished products will also increase significantly, which will improve the economic performance of open pit No. 9 in general.

“For the first time in the history of PJSC UMCC, we began substantial upgrade of production facilities at the subsidiary in Irshansk. The investment into the spiral separators at IMPP is a part of the plan for reconstruction of the factory of the open pit mine No. 9 and construction of the new factory at the open pit mine No. 8,” says Oleksandr Gladushko, Acting Chairman of the Board of PJSC UMCC.

As a reminder, on August 16, PJSC UMCC made a pre-payment for the supply of two new batteries of hydrocyclones at IMPP. The first battery of hydrocyclones of CAVEX brand manufactured by UK-based Warman has already been delivered to the subsidiary. The investment into this equipment was planned at the level of UAH 4 million.

Both hydrocyclones and separators are important components of titanium ore enrichment technology. They allow to increase the degree of extraction of useful components from raw materials and the output of finished products. This significantly influences the performance indicators of the enterprise.

It is too early to say how much the output will increase at the factory, says Andriy Ivanchenko, Deputy Chief Engineer of IMPP. He oversees implementation of the projects for the modernization and construction of factories at the plant.

It is becoming more expensive and economically inexpedient to operate on the existing equipment, believes Ivanchenko. “The factories use spiral separators that were manufactured in the 1960s. So PJSC UMCC is working on upgrading the fixed production assets of the subsidiary,” he comments.

The latest analysis of the technical condition of the processing equipment showed low rates of extraction of ilmenite in concentrate and low efficiency of the existing equipment, according to Ivanchenko. “These factors served as the basis for us to carry out measures for the reconstruction of the existing production line. The main goal is to improve technological performance of the site. And the management of the company treated this need with understanding,” says the company's specialist.
Why the Australian Minerals Technologies and specifically MG6.3 and HG10i separators were chosen?

These separators and their analogues are not manufactured in Ukraine, and Minerals Technologies is the global leader in the production of equipment for enrichment of placer deposits of titanium ores. Its equipment is used by the leading companies in the field of ore mining and processing, namely DU PONT, Iluka, Kenmare, Trimax and others.
