IMPP launches production of sand for construction
16.12.2019With support of JSC UMCC, the company’s subsidiary Irshansk Mining and Processing Plant, released a new product – sand for construction work. The product will help increase profit and improve the company’s performance indicators.
Irshansk MPP gained the right to mine and sell bulk minerals together with the license issued by the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine under the corresponding order No. 220 dated July 9, 2019. At the moment, the company has certified products and potential buyers. This gives the plant a hope for additional earnings, since the plant is unprofitable at the moment.
“Diversification of the product line is one of the steps we planned to improve the condition of the Irshansk subsidiary. Along with increase of output of its main product – ilmenite concentrate, which will take place at the subsidiary in 2020, this will yield a good economic result,” hopes Oleksandr Gladushko, Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC UMCC.
Viktor Sivchenko, Director of Irshansk MPP, is positive about the new prospects of the plant: “Naturally, our main task is to extract titanium ores and produce ilmenite concentrate. However, sand, which is an associated mineral together with titanium ore, also has its consumers in the construction market.”
Myroslav Harmash, deputy director for commercial issues at the plant, tells about the first steps in the salve of new product: “We have begun signing contracts on the supply of construction sand. As of the middle of December, the plant sold its first 2,000 t of sand. The client is satisfied with the quality and wants to continue working with us.” He also added that the sales volumes of sand will increase, as there is an agreement on conclusion of the contract with one more construction company.
Irshansk sand meets the requirements of technical specifications (TS) for its use in construction. The client makes the purchase on pick-up basis. If needed, the client can independently load the product into their own transport vehicle.
Foreign Economic Relations and Sales Department of Irshansk MPP continuously carries out marketing research on potential buyers of the products and increase of demand for the new product, which the plant began to sell. The first results have shown that the stock of the product and the quality need to be improved in order to increase the volume of sales and find new buyers.
