New concentrate drying technology introduced at Lemnenska factory of IMPP

Construction of a new production facility – vacuum filters, is in the final stage at the processing factory No. 3 of Irshansk Mining and Processing Plant, a subsidiary of JSC United Mining and Chemical Company. The vacuum filters are required for dehydration of rough concentrate. The new equipment will replace scraper bridges that have lost their mechanical properties and became dangerous for further use.
Upgrade at the Lemnenska Factory was initiated by the management of JSC UMCC with the purpose of increasing its load in the future. According to the company’s plant, production of concentrates in 2020 will be carried out only by this factory of the subsidiary. Therefore, the facility must be technically ready for productive operation, tells Oleksandr Gladushko, Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC UMCC.
The processing plant was built in the 1970s and was a part of Lemnenskiy Mining and Processing Complex. Over the period of its operation, the building of the factory began to lose its solidity and reliability, affected by the use of lifting equipment and created constant vibrations Further use of two scraper bridges in the building, which has been in operation for nearly 50 years, became dangerous. “The decision was made about the construction of a new technological line that will replace the work of scraper bridges. Production safety is the most important issue,” says Oleksandr Pereteyko, Chief of Factory No. 3.
Three LON – 1.6/3.2 type belt vacuum filters were moved from Vilnohirsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of JSC UMCC, to IMPP. The main principle of their operation is vacuum filtration, which, according to experts, reduces humidity levels in concentrates from 30% to 6-8%. “The vacuum filters that have been installed are necessary to ensure continuous operation of our factory and prevention of ruination of the carcass of the building,” says Oleksandr Pereteyko.
According to the schedule, the new equipment will be put into operation by the end of this year. The employees that serviced the operation of the scraper bridges have taken training courses of working with vacuum filters. So, no employee will be let go in the process of technical re-equipment of the factory.
As a reminder, a year ago, new production equipment – light slow-response sieve (HIL-32) was installed at the processing factory No. 3. It is required to sort the rough concentrate and discard unnecessary impurities: pebbles, kaolin, foreign objects. After HIL-32 was introduced to the technological process, the production became more effective and efficient and labor conditions have substantially improved for the employees of the unit. JSC UMCC spent nearly UAH 400,000 for the new specialized equipment.
