DIAMO system to extend service life of the Czech stripping complex at VMMP
18.02.2020The company purchased a new control system for the Czech-made KU-800 bucket-wheel stripping complex of Vilnohirsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of JSC UMCC.
The Czech control system for stripping complex belts will replace with old one, which has been in operation for over 30 years. JSC United Mining and Chemical Company is expecting that the investment worth EUR 125,000 will reduce idle time of the complex for repairs, save efforts and working time of the repair crews, which will be used elsewhere. Continuous operation of the complex will improve its performance and KU-800 will be able to strip more ground., thus improving the load of other plant’s units – production and enrichment (processing) plant. As a result, VMMP will improve its performance indicators. These expectations were voiced by Oleksandr Gladushko, Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC UMCC.
The Czech company designed this system in accordance with the specifics of production of the Vilnohirsk subsidiary. It controls not only launch of the complex. DIAMO launches the so-called stream-transport system, which operates both at the KU-800 stripping complex and at the other complex – ERShR-1600. This system controls all belts of the stripping complexes, overburden spreaders and overloaders. That is why keeping it in operating condition is so important.
Stripping complexes of VMMP – KU-800 and ERShR-1600 – are the only operational equipment of this scale still working in Ukraine in the mining sector. They are outdated, but they allow to quite quickly strip large volumes of rock with very beneficial economy. That is why the company’s management believes it is necessary to ensure their continuous operation in the open pit mines. Last year, the complexes stripped nearly half of the planned volume of ore, specifically 16,640 thousand cu m of rock. In January 2020, they exceeded the production plan. Of the planned 650,000 cu m, 680.9 thousand cu me was stripped.
Workers of VMMP subsidiary will be installing DIAMO system in February-March this year, which will suspend operation of KU-800 complex.
