VMPP to increase stripping operations
11.01.2017Director of Vilnohirsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant of PJSC UMCC Andriy Storchak speaks about the results of 2016 and prospects of development and plans for the year 2017.
– Do you consider 2016 successful? Have the objectives that were set achieved?
– Compared to the previous year, 2016 was much more successful for our plant both in terms of finished products output and improvement of the technological process. Almost all objectives that we set for 2016 have been achieved. The most important among them were the long-awaited completion of the repairs of the rotary bucket excavator KU-800, which has long been under repairs and prevented us from starting to work at the southern part of the open pit No. 7 and also planned transfer of the second line of the hydrotransport, which contributed to significant improvement of our output indicators. In addition, we purchased two new dry purification filters for the concentrate grinding and several vehicles.
– What are the plans for the next year? Can we expect investments into production and its growth?
- We have big plans for this year both in terms of the finished products output and investments. We are planning to increase the volumes of stripping operations by 40%. We are planning to purchase a lot of new machinery and vehicles, primarily dump trucks. The plans also include two major repairs of open pit excavators, major repairs of the drying drum SB-1 at the processing department, transfer of the first line of hydrotransport and booster station of the second upwell of the first line. Major repair of the vacuum filters at the processing department is also in the plans. This year will be the year of continuing our progress and reaching new heights. I am confident that we can do it!
