IMPP increases sales to EU markets

Irshansk Mining and Processing Plant considerably increased output and sales of its products in January-May 2017 thanks to the growing demand of the European Union markets. Specifically, over 5 months of 2017, the plant sold twice as more natural ilmenite concentrate (TiO2) as in the same period of 2016 – 111,081 t against 53,853 t.
The output of the product also more than doubled over the reported period from 50,632 t in January – May 2016 to 107,981 t in January – May 2017. As of June 1, only 2,400 t of products remained unsold at the plant’s warehouses. A year ago, this indicator was much higher at 47,159 t.
Positive output and sales dynamics at IMPP resulted from successful work of the PJSC UMCC sales department. “Over the current period, the company succeeded not only in increasing the sales of ilmenite produced at Irshansk. We are proud that the ratio of supplies changed. Specifically, in the beginning of the year, sales to EU did not exceed 20%, while now they are close to 50%, with the rest going to the Asian markets. Processing companies from France, Germany and Poland are interested in Irshansk’s ilmenite. Back in 2015, nearly all IMPP’s ilmenite remained at the plant’s warehouses, while this year the situation has nearly reversed with nearly all output of Irshansk subsidiary contracted,” tells PJSC UMCC Acting Chairman of the Board Oleksandr Gladushko.
He reminded that in 2004-2014, Irshansk Mining and Processing Plant, being under lease, remained titanium raw material supplier of the local market. The subsidiary emerged on the foreign markets, restoring its long-forgotten exporter’s image only after the plant was transferred to the UMCC.
