Vilnohirsk MMP is installing new Multotec separators

The equipment will help double the output of wet sands and increase the output of kyanite-sillimanite concentrate at the Vilnohirsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of JSC UMCC
JSC United Mining and Chemical Company continues to invest in modernization of the mechanisms of processing of titanium ore at the subsidiaries. On April 10, the workers of the Vilnohirsk MMP received three new blocks of separators of the African manufacturer Multotec, the products of which have already proven their worth at the plant.
“To reduce the loss of useful elements to the so-called tailings and increase the output of finished useful products – that was the objective of acquisition and installation of Multotec separators at the VMMP. The equipment proved its worth, having improved economic indicators of the processing,” says Oleksandr Gladushko, Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC UMCC. The company spent around UAH 10 million for the purchase of the new blocks of the African separators, according to him. The plant has been using the first blocks since 2017 and is happy with the result of operation of the equipment, integrated into the common mechanism of processing.
The blocks will be installed at different sites of the processing production; there will be the total of 5 of them. The processors of the subsidiary expect that the new equipment will allow to increase output of such products as kyanite-sillimanite concentrate and wet sands of BC-30 grade of improved quality. Performance indicators of the new separators will be studied for the period of three months and after that the conclusion on the period of investment return will be made.
Oleksiy Ryabinin, Chief Engineer of VMMP, is happy that the output levels will increase substantially once the additional Multotec blocks are put into operation at the site of production of molding sands, where another Multotec block is already used – instead of 10 t per hour, the factory will be able to produce 20-25 t of sands of improved quality of BC-30 grade. These sands are used by the glass manufacturers.
Partnership with Multotec does not end at this, says Oleksiy Ryabinin. Vilnohirsk MMP is planning to purchase and install a special plant of spiral separators for processing of the tailings at the new factory, which Vilnohirsk plant is planning to build.
