Our kickboxers retain UMCC Cup
17.03.2020Open UMCC ISKA Kickboxing Cup was held for the second time in Vilnohirsk with financing and facilitation of Vilnohirsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of JSC UMCC. This year’s event was dedicated to the Day of Commemoration of Veterans of Combats on the Territory of Other Countries. Vilnohirsk team of kickboxers claimed 21 gold medals and the UMCC Cup.
Fighters from all of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast came to the Avangard Sports Club on February 15. Unlike last year, the number of participants nearly doubled in 2020. Overall, 128 athletes from Vilnohirsk, Dnipro, Kamyanske, Verkhnyodniprovsk, Verkhivtseve and Pyatykhatky competed in the Open UMCC Cup.
The trainer of Vilnohirsk Fighter Club, Deputy Director of Culture and Sports Palace for sport issues Mykola Biletskiy was involved in the organization of the tournament. He informed that this year, the event gained a bigger scale and significance, as the oblast center and other cities and towns joined the tournament, which made it more prestigious.
The fights were held on two tatamis and in the ring. Within the tournament, the athletes competed in Taekwondo, Cossack Spas, Oriental Martial Arts, Karate and Kickboxing. There were 144 fights during the tournament.
Oleksiy Ryabinin, Chief Engineer at VMMP, who watched the fights and also presented the awards to the winners, said the company will continue to support development of all types of sports. He thanked Mykola Biletskiy for bringing up true fights and putting his heart and soul into them.
The trainers of other teams praised the high level of our athletes. “We have known the fighters from the Fighter Club for several years, competed with them in different styles and disciplines and the level of these athletes is high. Our athletes have something to strive for,” emphasized Yana Firsova, trainer of Sakura. Oleksandr Pinihin, trainer of the team from Verkhivtseve, said that Vilnohirsk has a very good training base and everything that fosters true athletes. Tymur Ibrahimov (Tiger SC) stressed that 90% of Ukraine national team is made up of athletes from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, while Vilnohirsk and Verkhnyodniprovsk are the key bases that train the national team.
As a reminder, last year, with support of JSC UMCC, a modern gym was opened at Metalurh Culture and Sports Palace of VMMP subsidiary, and with number of people training there is constantly increasing.
