Russian companies reduced import of titanium dioxide on 8%

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) import was reduced on 8% in January-May, 2015 in comparison with the same period of the last year. At the same time supplies of titanium dioxide from Ukraine and Finland are increased.
Total import of TiO2 to Russia for 5 months amounted 28,8 thousands of tons. Import supplies of titanium dioxide of Sumykhimprom production increased on 23% and amounted 5,8 thousands of tons over the review period. Crimea Titan dispatched 8,5 thousands of tons of TiO2 that is 58% more than one year ago.
Market players gear increased interest to supplies of titanium dioxide from Crimea and Symu to currency rate (material is much cheaper than import analogues).
 Import of finnic TiO2 of Sachtleben Chemie production increased on 37% and exceeded 3 thousands of tons. Import from USA is also reduced. In January – May, 2015, DuPont supplied to Russia only 2,63 thousands of tons of titanium dioxide, that is 2,4 times less than in the same period one year ago.
