VMMP is getting a new magnetic separator

United Mining and Chemical Company has acquired a new double-cascade magnetic separator worth US $70,000 for the subsidiary. The equipment will improve the economy of the processing production
The new separator will be delivered to the subsidiary in the end of December. It will help achieve maximum extraction of zircon concentration from magnetic fraction, which up until now was dropped to the spoil dump due to contamination with other mixtures, tells Chief Engineer of the Processing Unit of VMMP Oleksiy Ryabinin.
“We hope not only to obtain additional volumes of concentrate and save energy resources, but also improve the quality of zircon concentrate and attract new consumers,” comments Acting Chairman of the Board of PJSC UMCC Oleksandr Hladushko.
Prodecologia, the supplier of the separator, produced it based on the order of the company and adjusted the equipment to the technological cycle of the processing production of the subsidiary.
Return of the investment for the new equipment is expected within 10-12 months upon its commissioning, which means additional volumes of zircon concentrate with magnetic fraction at almost 200-250 t a year. The plant's capacities allow for production of around 50,000 t of zircon concentrate a year.
Modernization of the processing production of the subsidiary is the primary task of the company for the nearest period. Upgrading equipment at this part of production and at the concentrate crushing unit will lead to general reduction of production costs at VMMP, improving the subsidiary's economic indicators within a short period of time, believes Hladushko.
“The plants of PJSC UMCC have worked for a long period without investments into core business, i.e. the processing factory. Renewing fixed assets of subsidiaries is an objective need caused by wear of equipment and demand for the products on the part of consumers. Increase of output is impossible without reconstruction of the existing equipment. That is why the company is directing its investments into this area of production,” he said.
